The single most common gearing mistake: chasing more '[+]% damage' affixes once the Additive bucket is already large, when the same roll would have been huge early and is now nearly worthless.
Because every plain '[+]%' stat sums into one shared multiplier, each additional point of Additive damage is worth (new total / old total) - 1, not its own face value. Early in a build this is close to 1:1; once total Additive damage exceeds several hundred percent, a new source is worth a small fraction of its printed number.
Relative gain from adding X% to an existing additive total T is X / (100% + T). At T=0% a +60% roll is a 60% damage increase; at T=800% the same +60% roll is only about a 2.85% increase.
+60% Additive at 0% existing = +60% damage. +60% Additive at 800% existing = +2.85% damage (60/(100+800)).
Track your character sheet's bottom-line Additive Damage % (gear+paragon only, not the inflated top-line number that already includes Global Multipliers). Once it is large, prioritize new x% Global Multipliers, Skill% investment, or Main Stat over more '[+]%' gear rolls.
