Overpower's baseline stack cap is 4 or 8 - and specific items extend it far beyond either - Diablo IV Season 15 mechanics

Overpower's Lord of Hatred-era redesign is a stacking buff capped at 4 or 8 stacks (4 seconds each, 15%[+] Additive Damage per stack). Current top-tier Season 15 builds push the effective cap far higher via specific Aspects/uniques.

Detail

The baseline cap is not settled - do not build a damage calculator assuming either figure without testing in-game. Individual Overpower stacks each carry their own independent 4-second timer, and certain items are explicitly designed to push the practical stack count well past whatever the 'baseline' figure is.

Why it works

The mechanic is now a simple stacking Additive-Damage buff (replacing the old percent-chance/crit-like hit-type from earlier expansions); only the numeric baseline cap is unsettled.

Numbers

Baseline cap: 4 or 8. Per-stack value: 15%[+] Additive Damage, each stack lasting 4 seconds independently.

How to use it

Test your own build's actual max Overpower stack count in-game rather than assuming a number; if your kit includes a stack-extending Aspect, the baseline cap barely matters since you'll exceed both figures anyway.
