# Attack Speed and Cast Speed are two separate 100% pools, not one shared 200%

Everything literally named 'Attack Speed' (gear, Paragon, tempering, class mechanics like Ferocity/Accelerating) fills Cap 1, capped at 100%; everything named 'Cast Speed' fills the separate Cap 2, also capped at 100% - for a combined ceiling of 200%, but never fungible with each other.

Diablo IV patch 3.2.1. Category: breakpoint. Evidence: Confirmed.

## Detail
Overcapping one pool while starving the other is a common, invisible mistake: gear that reads 'Attack Speed' contributes nothing once Cap 1 is full, even if Cap 2 still has headroom, and vice versa. Whether a given skill benefit comes from Cap 1 or Cap 2 depends on how the specific bonus is worded, not on the class or weapon.

## Why it works
The two pools are tracked as independent stats internally; a skill's effective attack rate reads from whichever pool(s) apply to it, each hard-capped separately before being converted into a frame-breakpoint-gated animation speed.

## Numbers
200% total possible (100% + 100%).

## How to use it
Check whether your remaining Attack Speed gear slots are pushing an already-capped pool before buying more; if Cap 1 is full, only Cast-Speed-worded sources (or vice versa) still help.
